Momentum, drama, love and dance, music, mysticism, tradition, magic and dizzying images in the forests and mountains of Slovakia, a country in the very heart of Europe. Dancing on Broken Glass is a series of frescos about basic human needs and feelings.The narrative of the film is simple - love and the struggle to experience love. The story has few words, lots of authentic music, captivating mountains and irresistible dance sequences. And these are as dynamic, cruel and genuine as the lives of the main characters. The film's images transport the viewer back to the roots of proto-Christian Europe and universal emotions. Director Marek Tapak builds on the strong tradition of musical and dance films, which legendary Slovak filmmakers Martin Tapak and Karol L. Zachar have created in the past, bringing a new, modern form to life. The story is based on the musings of the main character as he delves into the depths of his memory, reliving his strongest moments in life through dance, captivating music and the tenderness and strength of poetry. His travels are composed of fragments of a life, which together create a fascinating mosaic of pictures moving through time and space. The success of the film is also due to the dancers of the professional folklore ensemble SLUK, the music group BANDA, the composer Tono Popovic and the poet Daniel Hevier. The film was successfully screened at the Bratislava 2012 International Film Festival in the Made in Slovakia section and had its international premiere at the International Film and Television Market in Hong Kong in 2013.
